Describing this painting, the artist wrote: “I often develop paintings around colors and shapes – all of which abound within Indian culture. The circle was a sacred shape for the Plains Indian, utilized in decorating both functional and ceremonial items. The circular shapes in this painting are balanced against the triangles of the tepees, with a variation on the theme appearing in the umbrella.”
