In discussing this painting the artist writes, “The mountains, while beautiful, can be a dark and foreboding place, especially in winter. But every spring the tentative rays of a warming light break through the clouds and illuminate the waiting snow, slowly at first, in fits and starts, then with growing intensity until the water begins to flow again and spring arrives in full blossom.”
