The artist writes, “For me, few subjects represent the power and beauty of the American West better than bison in Yellowstone during the winter. There is an unmatched sense of brutality and rawness to such scenes, and paradoxically a grace and feeling of peace that is unparalleled. This extreme dichotomy is fascinating to paint, and symbolic to me of the ebb and flow of good and bad that we all experience in life.”
