Mt. Stevens, Canadian Rockies will be included in the Albert Bierstadt Catalogue Raisonné. A letter from Melissa Webster Speidel, Director of the Albert Bierstadt Catalogue Raisonné, will accompany the lot.

According to art historian Allan Pringle, “Albert Bierstadt’s fascination with painting the Canadian landscape began in 1869 when he was near the height of his artistic career, and it continued as a sporadic yet enticing affair that spanned more than two decades, culminating in his heroic 1889 and 1890 expeditions over the Canadian Pacific Railway line to sketch the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia.”
