In his biographical work, Teepee Smoke: A New Look Into the Life and Work of Joseph Henry Sharp, Forrest Fenn wrote about Sharp moving to a more permanent location in New Mexico, “If the Taos Indians and their culture had seemed less romantic to Sharp than the Indians of the North, he soon found the way to compensate: he learned to ‘clothe’ them in his moods, bringing them to life by using firelight to create a haunting atmosphere.”
