The artist writes, “As an artist I have always been fascinated by the play of light. In this painting I really enjoyed working with the dappled light to achieve the effect in the finished painting. The ‘Athlete of the Americas,’ mountain lions, are one of my favorite subjects and I have chosen to paint this one in a relaxed pose enjoying the early morning sunshine. Even in this position the cat is still very alert and full of feline grace.”
