The artist wrote, “When good friends asked me to paint a bear and cubs for them, my first reaction was, Why Me? I don’t do cute paintings, and it’s hard not to make cubs cute. Nevertheless, I did what I was commissioned to do, enjoyed doing it, and had very few serious problems in the process of painting it. The results pleased not only my friends, but me as well.”
