Reflecting on bighorn sheep, the artist wrote, “Wild sheep inhabit some pretty awesome sweeps of high country. To paint mountain sheep one must portray the lofty reaches of their habitat. I’m only a painter of mountains when my animal subjects haul me up to their otherwise inaccessible crags and alpine meadows.”
