Titled
Pletka biographer Evan Maurer stated, “Pletka’s paintings are best approached along two avenues. One ethnographic, the other esoteric, with the viewer assuming, as Pletka certainly seems to, that each route is really a linked variant of a single reality. For atavism, animism, attempts at contacting the elemental forces of a mysterious universe – attitudes and activities in which the West’s arbitrary and relatively recent separation of ‘natural’ from ‘supernatural’ loom as meaningless – these features emerge as hallmarks of the ways of Native America, practices figuring prominently in Pletka’s world.”
