The artist wrote, “Often a landscape setting is so full of interest, so rich in design possibilities, that the wildlife artist’s function is a simple one. Select an appropriate animal or animals, dig out some good reference material to enforce your knowledge of that particular beast, draw the subject on tracing paper, and when you arrive at a satisfactory result, transfer it to the primed board, paying special attention to spatial relationships. Then paint.”
