The artist notes that, “My painting imagery tends to focus on open spaces. I attempt to intensify the feeling of depth and isolation via a low horizon and clearly defined cloud shapes. The space behind the clouds often appears porous and makes the foreground shapes more prominent. These painting elements and techniques were nurtured during my early studies of abstraction, Pop art, color field painting, and printmaking in the 1960s. The love of Western subjects and an interest in art history have yielded a comfortable and expressive style of painting.”
