The artist writes, “The American bison or buffalo is a North American animal that I have wanted to paint for quite a while. Their look and sheer power has always intrigued me and painting this one invoked memories of those Saturday morning Western movies at the local cinema! I chose to focus on the head for this painting because for me as an artist the most insulated part of the animal with all that shaggy fur is the most fun part to paint.”
