VERSO
Signed and dated

The artist wrote, “Snow leopards seem to do well in zoos, and it is there that I’ve been able to observe, draw and photograph them. I would love to see them in their high rocky haunts of Asia, but I don’t think I could manage the altitude they prefer.

“These cats, though somewhat smaller than the African leopard, appear to have no trouble catching and killing the various wild sheep and goats that share their mountain turf. They also make an occasional raid on domestic stock, and for that the penalty is severe.”
