VERSO
Signed and titled

In 1991, John K. Goodman wrote, “I think the interesting part of the painting is that the center figure in the painting is Olaf Wieghorst looking across the Rio Grande River against the fire and smoke towards the remnants of the Villa Brigades.” Although Wieghorst served three years guarding against Pancho Villa’s revolutionaries, the most he saw of them were their campfires across the Rio Grande.
