Shoshone Elk Hunters of the Wind River Range (2021)
oil on canvas
33 × 48 inches
signed lower right
In discussing this painting the artist writes, “I am intrigued by history of the Native American tribes. The Mountain Shoshone camped in the high altitude meadows of the Wind River Range in Wyoming. Artifacts found at prehistoric sites indicate they hunted bighorn sheep, mountain goat, and elk. The painting portrays morning light on a village as men and young scouts ready for the hunt.”
