Describing this painting the artist wrote, “Although I generally find most inspiration in the hot, dry, yellow bush of Africa, the Serengeti Plains at their most dramatic have a magic all their own. Surely this is the place for great African skyscapes. With the advent of the rains, bringing the first slush of green grass, the wildebeast, those lovable, comic, but slightly sad, characters of the bush, trek in their tens of thousands—undoubtedly one of the wonders of Africa—and the many varied predators await their turn.”
