The artist writes, “Seth Bullock was the law in Deadwood and was a good man. Al Swearengen, not so good, ran a brothel and was known to be brutal, forcing some girls to work for him by rough handling. Bullock’s steel nerves and hard reputation ended most disputes without gun fire.”
