Power of the Painted Coat (2007)
oil on canvas
36 × 24 inches

According to the artist, “The Northeastern Cree believed that their painted caribou-skin coats had magical powers. The geometric designs represented the hunter’s dreams and assured him success in the hunt. After a year, the coat’s magic would wear off, but by then his wife would have another painted coat ready for him.”
