The artist writes, “As an avid fly fisherman, I am most at home along the shore of a crystal clear mountain river. Every stress fades away. Nature reveals her secrets only after hours of close observation. In this painting, I was astounded at how the colors of the rocks under the water echoed the colors of the hillside in autumn.

“Listen closely...at first no sound.
A bubble, a gurgle as the waters tumble.
Then the soft rattle of leaves overhead.
Everything in harmony leaves one humble.
I hear them... new voices I have found.”
