2016 Coeur d’Alene Art Auction / Lot 181
A 1995 Letter of Authenticity written by Russell historian Ginger Renner states in part, “In my opinion, this is a lifetime casting of this sculpture. According to Fred Renner’s records, this piece was sculpted in March of 1926, when Russell, himself, was feeling the possibilities of his mortality. Renner’s records note that ten casts of this sculpture were made.” A copy of the letter will accompany the lot.
This bronze is one of only ten lifetime casts.
