According to the artist, “The beautiful white mission San Xavier del Bac was founded in 1692 and is situated in the center of a Tohono O’odham Indian settlement, approximately seven miles south of present day Tucson. For generations, all over the southwest and Mexico, members would donate to the church both monetary and in kind gifts. On a late summer afternoon a viejo delivers something special for the upcoming celebration, a gift of flowers, Regalo de Flores.”
