According to the artist, “This painting was inspired by my countless trips into the vast deserts of the American West. Whenever I am out exploring, looking for subjects to paint, I always have the late afternoon and sunset to look forward to. It is such an interesting time of day. With this in mind, I try and create my own world, my own interpretation of the West. Photorealism is not my interest, instead I am showing how I see the desert.”
