According to Goodwin historian Dr. Larry Len Peterson, “In 1911 Philip R. Goodwin and Carl Rungius, the two titans of North American wildlife and sporting art, took a pack trip into the Wilcox/Brazeau River wilderness northwest of Banff, Canada. The famed hunting and sketching trip took place between August 19 and October 6 and was documented in Goodwin’s forty-one page hand-written journal, letters sent to his mother, and photographs. Relaxation, featuring Rungius sitting under a tree, is an enduring reminder of the friendship between these two renowned artists.”
