According to Don Dedera, “Not a large painting, this depicts two Apache Indians with a pony; evidence indicates a victorious encounter or successful raid. They’ve appropriated whatever they could get their hands on. They have a trapdoor Springfield carbine, a sergeant’s jacket, and a Cavalry hat. The Apaches have to be counted among the more keen and crafty guerrillas the world has ever known.”
