Zebras Drinking, Masai Mara (2013)
oil on canvas
20 × 39 inches
signed and dated lower right

According to the artist, “Common zebra need to drink every day, but it can be a very dangerous occupation. Often lions will stake out a waterhole knowing that their prey have to drink there. Crocodiles can lie hidden beneath the surface of the water. Zebra often drink closely together in small groups as it maximizes their chances of seeing predators and increases the likelihood of escape. The zebras drinking in this painting were seen in the Masai Mara in Kenya.”
