According to the artist, “The habitat and behavior of moose change dramatically in autumn with the start of the rutting period. Frosty temperatures and rich coloring of the foliage signal a time for pairing up. The courtship ritual includes a wide array of behavior – a complex sequence of competition, aggression, challenges, sparring, fighting, dominance, submission and then the mating.”
