The Texas state capitol was built in the 1880’s with proceeds from the sale of millions of acres of public lands in the Texas panhandle. The land that financed this magnificent building became the great XIT Ranch–itself a Texas Legend. This masterpiece by G. Harvey is one of his most beautiful and iconic Texas paintings. It was created in 2007 and immediately went to a very prominent Dallas collection where it was displayed on loan at the Dallas Museum of Fine Art.
