According to R. F. Morgan, “After the buffalo were gone most tribes depended on the government beef issue for meat, but here were some who insisted on wild meat for the lodge. In this instance the elder of the lodge has taken his son to an area where the ‘muleys’ hang out in the fall hoping to fill the larder for the coming winter months. I have titled this painting Like Father, Like Son, alluding to the days of the buffalo.”
