According to Ken Carlson, “There is no better inspiration for a bighorn painting than the excitement of observing mature rams on a steep grassy slope with the majestic Rocky Mountains as the backdrop. No matter the number of times I’ve observed these regal creatures in their natural habitat, it always thrills me as if it were the first time. This band of bachelor rams will hang out together until late fall when the rutting season brings about a jealous competition for the ewes.”
