According to Roy Andersen, “On June 17, 1876, a group of Cheyenne warriors, with their Sioux allies, skirmish with one of the units of the 3rd Cavalry in what was a part of the battle of the Rosebud. The Army claimed this as a victory, but the People knew that they had won. The Cheyenne call it, ‘where the girl saved her brother.’”
The February/March 2012 issue of Ranch & Reata will accompany the lot.
