2012 Coeur d’Alene Art Auction / Lot 143
Hello Dutch is recorded in the C.M. Russell Catalogue Raisonné as reference number Cr.ILU.308.
Charles ‘Dutch’ Schatzlein was a close friend of Russell and the first dealer to sell his paintings. According to Brian W. Dippie, “Charlie was prompt to thank friends for gifts of venison, buffalo, and elk–though he would have had to struggle with Schatzlein’s gift of an elk steak since, as he wrote Goodwin in late October, ‘I had all my teeth pooled the other day an right now I havent many more teeth than a hen.’”
