The Illawarra was an iron, full-rigged ship built in Glasgow, Scotland, by Dobie & Co. It was launched in 1881 from London and used primarily for the Australian passenger route. The ship was eventually abandoned at sea in 1912, when a load of coal shifted and caught fire. Her crew was saved by a passing British steam ship.

Condition ReportSurface is in fair condition. Hairline cracks throughout the sky. Some of the cracks have tented, and the paint appears loose in several portions. Spots of inpainting throughout the sky.
