According to the artist, “Elk are some of the most vocal of the deer family - the bull elk’s bugle is a rugged and beautiful sound to hear in the wild. In the Autumn months herd bulls will gather cow elk for the fall rut - these girls are a hard fought prize and he will go “all out” to keep and protect them. A herd bull gets his moniker by being a bigger bad ass than the other bulls. He’ll run off all suitors, and on occasion fight to the death for the breeding rights of the females. It’s an exciting display of testosterone run amok.”
