The artist writes, “On this beautiful morning in northern Colorado, I arrived at the Blue River at sunrise. The temperature was 10 degrees and the river was completely frozen slush. As the sun got higher, the temperature rose quickly and the harsh, frigid environment turned warm and welcoming. Here, I depict the warmth of the sun as the slush and ice shelves are melting away. On March days like this, you can be completely comfortable in a short-sleeve shirt while standing in the snow. It is an incredible feeling.”
