Label, Wildlife: The Artist’s View

According to the artist, “One of my objectives in this painting was to show white-tailed deer at their best: in this case, two sleek, hard-antlered, high-spirited bucks that for now, at least, seem to enjoy each other’s company. But as the colors of the foliage imply, their time together is running short. Before long, they will become staunch adversaries, armed and ready to defend their turf from all comers, including each other.”

October Prime was released as a limited edition print by Sporting Classics in 1989.
