The artist wrote, “I was in the middle of this coyote painting when family business and the prospect of some skiing took me to Utah. The snow-laden sagebrush that bordered most of the rural roads near our son’s house was exactly what I was looking for. In addition to the numerous photos, I made a little tempera/pencil study that reinforced my confidence in finishing the piece. I was and am pleased with the result.”
