The artist writes, “This painting was inspired by my friend Chris O’Connor who is a working cowboy in Arizona. I respect his humble way of life and the way he raises his kids. Chris’ son, following in his father’s footsteps, has spent his whole life watching his dad and wanting to be like him.

“I wanted to paint a very Arizona piece; a contemplative moment when those two are resting for a moment, apparently staring at something in the distance... As for my personal pleasure, I gave the father this pink shirt, a reference to James Reynolds’ masterpiece Arizona Cowboys, one of my favorite Western Art paintings.”
