The artist wrote, “This wild landscape seemed to be an ideal setting in which to portray the African buffalo. I have seen countless numbers of these magnificent animals over the years and I never fail to be inspired by them and that moment of tension as I suddenly see a group of them standing gazing at me, their noses sniffing the air and their eyes peering intently at the intruder.”
