Cowboy on Horseback – Meditation is recorded in the C. M. Russell Catalogue Raisonné as reference number CR.MUS.31

The cowboy on horseback is Bob Stuart who, with Russell, was one of the youngest ranchers in the Judith Basin. Stuart was the son of James Stuart, nephew of Granville Stuart of the DHS Ranch, and in his early years, one of Russell’s closest friends.
