Autumn Sorcery – Mallards
oil on board
26 × 36 inches
signed lower left

According to Diane K. Inman, author of From Marsh to Mountain: The Art of Harry Curieux Adamson, “Autumn Sorcery — Mallards is certainly one Harry Adamson’s best paintings. Completed at the height of his career, it was included in a traveling exhibit of the Society of Western Artists (back of painting has part of a De Young Museum label). Because it was going to travel, Harry painted it on masonite board, and made it somewhat larger than his usual 24 x 36. His attention to detail in this piece is classic Harry Adamson: note the foreground work especially.”
