Discussing this painting Daniel Smith wrote, “Autumn heralds the time for grizzly bears to bulk up for their winter hibernation. I have observed their quest in both Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. Grizzly bears are truly symbolic of the unspoiled wilderness and one of my favorite subjects to paint.”
